Paddlefest

Aug 28, 2021 • 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Paddlefest is a 4-mile paddling course through the salt marsh creeks of Rehoboth Bay. Participants will launch at Savages Ditch, learn about the park's natural and cultural resources along the way, and finish at Tower Rd bayside. Food trucks will be waiting at the finish line for hungry paddlers, and a shuttle service will be available to bring paddlers back to their cars. $10 event registration fee does not include kayak or canoe rental.

What is Paddlefest?

Delaware Seashore State Park's Paddlefest began in 2017, planned as a special one-time event, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the state park. That first year was SO. MUCH. FUN.

Park staff and paddlefest participants knew Paddlefest needed to be an annual event. In 2019, the growing popularity of the event led to the inaugural Paddlefest After-Party, complete with food, beverages, live music, and a variety of exhibitors and vendors. Generous sponsors made this party possible and also provided t-shirts and goody bags for all participants!

What's new in 2021?

You asked, we listened, and started making plans back in September 2019.  COVID-19 however, brought those plans to a screeching halt. Due to the uncertainty of what life would look like in August 2021, and the extensive planning that Paddlefest requires, we've decided to downgrade the Paddlefest After-Party to just a few food trucks and a few exhibitors.  But what matters most is that we can still paddle together and there are still improvements to look forward to:

  • New educational stops along the course (and if the tides allow, the course route could be new!)

  • A digital course map, available on any smart phone
