Sling N’ Squash 2024

 Gourds of all shapes and sizes are officially on alert:Sling N’ Squash returns to Big Chill Surf Cantina on November 9 for its epic seventh straight year of high-flying hijinks by the beach. Beasts-of-strength competitors from across Delaware and beyond will converge on the area’s favorite surf shack bar from 12 noon until 5 p.m. to send unsuspecting pumpkins into orbit. Expect the unexpected. Prepare for the premeditated. Stalk the spontaneous.

Sling N’ Squash – called the “most epic pumpkin’ chuckin’ event you’ve ever seen” – took roots in 2017 as a respectful way to pay tribute to the now-defunct Punkin’ Chunkin competition that first gripped Milton, DE in 1986. Organizers wanted to preserve the pumpkin-throwing event’s age-old legacy, without copying it or demeaning it, so they ditched the automated catapults and issued a new challenge: competitors may only use body parts to toss the gourds, not machines.
