Rehoboth Beach Museum Presents Oral History of Ada Burton

Feb 10, 2023

Rehoboth Beach, DE - The Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and Museum is continuing its series, In Their Own Words with a presentation of the Oral History of Ms. Ada Burton. Two programs will be held. An online presentation will be hosted on February 10th at 7 p.m. For those who cannot attend this session or do not have access to the Zoom presentation, we will do an afternoon screening of Ms. Burton’s oral history in the museum’s lecture hall on February 17th at 1p.m. Reservations are required for either program. Please go to www.rehobothbeachmuseum.org to register.

Ms. Burton was born in Rehoboth Beach at a time when there was still segregation in Rehoboth. She takes us through the restrictions that were in place during her early years, the schools she attended, and discusses what it was like in what is now West Rehoboth in the 1950s and 1960s.
Sadly, Ms. Burton passed away in 2020, but the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society is honored to have the chance to share her story with the public this year.
