In October 1856, Harriet Tubman organized what is considered by scholars to be “one of her most complicated and clever escape attempts” as she traveled along the Nanticoke River. In the early 1800s, the murderous Patty Cannon was the leader of a local gang that was known for kidnapping free African Americans for sale into slavery along what has become known as the “Reverse Underground Railroad.” On this paddle, you’ll learn about “Moses and the Monster” (we borrowed that title from this excellent book) and search for birds as the sun sets.
Please note: There are 4 rental solo kayaks and 2 rental tandem kayaks on site. Our inventory within PayPal is set to reflect these numbers. If you try to purchase a ticket and the kayak you choose is sold out, please email dmvbirds@gmail.com and we will try to get some additional kayaks
