Lewes Tulip Celebration

The 14th annual Lewes Tulip Celebration, jointly sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and Lewes in Bloom, will be blossoming April 1 - 16. This year Lewes in Bloom funded the purchase of 32,000 tulip and spring bulbs that were planted in fall 2022 by Lewes in Bloom members. The timing of the tulips' appearance is an inexact science and either milder or colder weather in advance of the event dates can increase the probability that the dates of the celebration may not exactly coincide with the tulips blooming! Call the chamber visitor center to get the most up-to-date information on what stage of blooming is occurring - 302-645-8073. A Tiptoe To The Tulips Map has been created that will be available in mid-March at the chamber's visitor center at 120 Kings Highway in Lewes 19958. The map will detail where the bulbs are planted as well as listing of the activities associated with the event. Lewes in Bloom will be selling tulips on April 7 & 9 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. or until they sell out. The Lewes Historical Society and Lewes in Bloom are partnering to offer walking tours on April 1 & 2. Tickets can be purchased for the History in Bloom tours at http://www.historiclewes.org/visit/tours/html. Other attractions include floral demonstrations and arrangements, an outdoor poetry reading at the Zwaanendael Museum on April 8 and art exhibitions at the Peninsula Gallery of Art and the Cape Artists.
