History Book Festival Presents Author Zach Carter: The Price of Peace

In collaboration with the History Book Festival, join us to talk with Zach Carter, author of The Price of Peace: Money, Democracy, and the Life of John Maynard Keynes, featured at the 2020 virtual History Book Festival. John Maynard Keynes was not just a British economist but the preeminent anti-authoritarian thinker of the twentieth century, one who devoted his life to the belief that art and ideas could conquer war and deprivation. Moral philosopher, political theorist, and statesman, Keynes reinvented Enlightenment liberalism to meet the harrowing crises of his time. In the United States, his ideas became the foundation of a burgeoning economics profession, but they also became a flash point in the broader political struggle of the Cold War. Zachary D. Carter is a senior reporter at HuffPost, where he covers economic policy and American politics. We invite you to support the author by purchasing a copy of his book from the Festival's official bookseller, Browseabout Books. Each copy purchased comes with a signed archival bookplate. Online program presented by the History Book Festival and Lewes Public Library. NOTE: this meeting is being conducted through Zoom. You MUST REGISTER to receive instructions for joining the meeting. Venue: Lewes Public Library.
