Film at CAT - I am Woman

“I Am Woman” is a biographical music drama about an iconic 1970’s musician and activist. This uplifting film chronicles the joys, pains, and complexities of Helen Reddy's amazing career. Her 1971 hit single "I Am Woman" became an anthem for second-wave feminism that continues to reverberate in today's #MeToo moment. But the story behind the song is itself an inspiration. Demanding artistic autonomy while striving to cultivate a productive private life, Reddy pioneered a path that many have followed - and must continue to fight for. The film opened the Athena Film Festival at Barnard College of Colombia University in New York which celebrates women. [2019, Australia, 116 min, Rated: NR]. Venue: Cinema Art Theater.
