Bethany Beach - Founders Day

Sep 4, 2026

The weekend is being designed to showcase the pride, patriotism and traditions that define Bethany Beach, including the return of the Independence Day Parade, which was postponed in July due to extreme heat. The parade will retain its original theme, “Stars, Stripes & Shorelines.”

Attendees can also enjoy three evenings of free entertainment at the Bethany Beach Bandstand, each celebrating a different era of iconic American music. All of the performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.

• Friday, Sept. 4 — Love Seed Mama Jump will open the festivities with an energetic mix of classic and modern rock.

• Saturday, Sept. 5 — The Jimmies will take audiences back to the 1980s with their Flashback show.

• Sunday, Sept. 6 — Jesse Garron’s Tribute to Elvis will bring the weekend’s concert series to a close with hits spanning the 1950s through the 1970s.

Following Sunday evening’s performance, spectators can enjoy a spectacular drone and fireworks display, co-sponsored by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and Southern Delaware Tourism.

The rescheduled Independence Day Parade will step off at noon on Sunday, Sept. 6, following its traditional route through downtown Bethany Beach. Information regarding float registration will be available soon, officials said.

The celebration concludes on Monday, Sept. 7, (Labor Day) with the 41st Annual Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral at 5:30 p.m. The New Orleans-style procession, accompanied by Dixieland jazz musicians, traditionally marks the close of summer and welcomes Bethany Beach’s anticipated “second season.”
