SUMMARY:The Breakers: A Tribute to Tom Petty
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:If you hear someone mention “Tom Petty Tribute Band\,” and
you\nthink blonde wigs or dyed blonde hair and a mediocre-at-best vocal\np
erformance\, then you haven’t been to a Breakers show. The Breakers\nare
a no-frills rock band who meticulously encompass the Tom Petty\nsound and
musically establish an emotional connection with the crowd\nthat’s palp
able. When asked why they didn’t take the impersonation\nand prop-driven
approach\, founder Tom Smith says “we wanted to\napproach the tribute g
enre as a true live band\, and in (lead vocalist)\nChris Chartier we have
what no one else has - the most genuine\nsounding Petty experience in the
country.” The members of the\nBreakers all come from a background of rec
ording and touring with\noriginal bands and perform the music of The Heart
breakers with the\nsame passion and dedication. They have paid tireless at
tention to\ndetail to each and every song which appeals to both casual and
diehard\nTom Petty fans alike. Since the fall of 2018 when Tom Smith\, Ch
ris\nChartier\, Evan Smith\, Rick Hiller\, Tom Booth and Steve George join
ed\nforces\, they have been practicing and honing their sound. In May 2019
\,\nthey posted a homemade video compilation to YouTube which has over\n7\
,000 views in just a few months. Playing to an emotional and packed\nhouse
\, their debut performance at The Newport Blues Cafe in August was\na reso
unding success. And with only one show under their belt\, their\nnext perf
ormance would be a sell-out show at the Narrows center for\nthe arts in Fa
ll River MA. The Breakers are currently booking venues\nthrough-out New En
gland and the East Coast. If you want to experience\nTom Petty & the Heart
breakers music there's only one band that can\ndeliver that sound authenti
cally ... The Breakers. Venue: The Freeman\nStage.
