Chesney and Tim\nMcGraw\, Scott felt the like the Nocturnals were going in
the wrong\ndirection in addition to feeling musically stifled by 30 minut
e sets\nof the same songs every night. Having studied music composition\,
world\nmusic\, and jazz at college\, Scott decided to combine the rock & r
oll\nhe had been steeped in with some more disparate influences. This\nbec
ame San Diego based Elektric Voodoo. For the past 6 years Scott has\nfront
ed this 7 piece ensemble and written all the music which combines\nLatin a
nd Afrobeat grooves with rock & roll guitars\, a horn section\,\nand psych
edelic sonics. Elektric Voodoo has toured the country\nnumerous times\, bu
ilt up a loyal following\, and put out 3 records that\nTournet produced. A
fter a long hiatus from the roots and pop driven\nrock & roll that propell
ed his early career\, Scott found himself\nstarting to naturally write mus
ic in that direction again. “I just\nsat down and allowed myself to writ
 e whatever came out naturally\, with\nno judgement or preconceptions”\,
says Tournet. “It started with a\nheavy drum beat and an electric guitar
. I had been writing with\nkeyboards and bass for the Elektric Voodoo reco
rds and while that had\nbeen liberating in its own way\, picking up the in
strument I started on\nfelt new and exciting again. I also realized that t
his is what I’m\nbest at. American roots based electric guitar with a po
werful groove\nand a succinct song. The songs came flooding out and the pr
ocess was\nfun and easy. 2023 finds Scott releasing a new album under his
 own\nname with a new 4 piece band consisting of Hammond B3 organ\, bass\,\
ndrums\, and electric guitar. While the sound is sonically current\, it\na
lso draws from American roots and pop music from the 1950s until\ntoday. V
