SUMMARY:Running of the Bull
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:In a world where things can feel so uncertain\, sometimes you n
eed a\ngood\, old-fashioned tradition. We need things we can count on\, an
d no\none understands that better than Steve “Monty” Montgomery and th
e\nentire staff at The Starboard. And this year\, one of those things you\
ncan count on is The Running of the Bull: it’s tradition. \n\n \n\nThe
Running of the Bull turns 29 this year because of the Covid time\nloop th
at took out a year of shenanigans\, and so we all know that next\nyear\, f
or its 30th birthday\, there will be a blowout. This year\, Bull\nRun Foun
der Michael McDonnell wants you to come out and enjoy this\nevent “Just
for the sake of silliness.” He says\, “There are so\nmany events in ou
r lives that are for REASONS\, like because your boss\nsays\, or our kids\
, etc. and this is one of those\, it’s an event of\nsilliness for the sa
ke of silliness.” \n\n \n\nIf you want to have a wacky and wild time i
n Dewey Beach and really\nkick off the season right\, then you already kno
w that you’re heading\nto the Starboard\, and if you want to take part i
n one of Dewey\nBeach’s most time honored traditions\, then it HAS to be
The Running\nof the Bull. At this point\, everyone from Gen Z to Boomers
has to pass\nthrough the gates of Bull Run tradition\, or they just simply
haven’t\nknown Dewey Beach. \n\n \n\nIf this is your first Running of
the Bull\, here are some things you\nshould know about this time honored
tradition: \n\n * No actual bulls will be running on the beach (it’s tw
o people in\na bull costume). \n * The Bull will chase the crowd down the
beach and back to the\nStarboard \n * After the run\, the Bull and the M
atador face off in the ring and\nfight to the “death.”\n * There is an
annual Hemingway lookalike contest\, and you can win\ncool prizes. \n *
This event is now older than many of the people who attend it. \n * Sunbl
ock. For God’s sake\, wear sunblock. \n\nAs always\, this party is not
without a cause\, as Montgomery believes\nin partying with purpose and giv
ing back to the community. Proceeds\nfrom this year’s Running of the Bul
l go to the Rehoboth Beach\nVolunteer Fire Department\, another tradition
 encapsulated in this\nevent! \n
