SUMMARY:Resistance Revival Chorus
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The Resistance Revival Chorus (RRC) is a collective of more tha
n 60\nwomxn\, and non-binary singers\, who join together to breathe joy an
d\nsong into the resistance\, and to uplift and center womxn’s voices.\n
Chorus members are touring musicians\, film and television actors\,\nBroad
 way performers\, solo recording artists\, gospel singers\, political\nacti
 vists\, educators\, filmmakers\, artists\, and more\, representing a\nmult
 itude of identities\, professions\, creative backgrounds\, and\nactivist c

ed womxn have been in the music industry. The\ngreat artist and activist H
arry Belafonte once said\, “when the\nmovement is strong\, the music is
strong” and we attempt to live up\nto that call. The RRC calls for justi
ce and equity for womxn across\nracial\, ethnic\, economic\, sexual identi
ty and religious lines. We aim\nto be intersectional in our feminism and r
eveal that all social\njustice issues overlap heavily with womxn’s issue
s\; to harness the\ncollective power of womxn to help change the world\; t
 o celebrate each\nother through song\; to embrace Toi Dericotte’s idea o
f “joy as an\nact of resistance.” Venue: Freeman Arts Pavilion. Presen
 ter: Joshua\nM. Freeman Foundation.
