DESCRIPTION:January 9 through February 8\, 2026 Opening Reception: Friday\,
  January\n9\, 2026 (5pm-7pm) Ventures Gallery This exhibition consists of 
 two\ndifferent elements. The first is long-duration cyanotypes that are in
 \nprocess\, which are exposed/made during the entire exhibition. The\nprin
 ts are made with flowers and plant materials foraged from the\narea. The s
 econd element of the exhibition are recently made\ncyanotypes. John Steck 
 Jr. is a visual artist and educator who resides\nin Baltimore\, MD. He is 
 a maker of photographic images and ephemeral\nobjects. Using light-sensiti
 ve emulsions\, he creates photographs that\nboth fade and form over time. 
 This work addresses our complex\nrelationship with time\, memory\, and imp
 ermanence. Steck has exhibited\nacross twenty states and six countries. Hi
 s most recent solo\nexhibition\, A Silver Memory\, which highlighted over 
 ten years of his\nartistic practice\, took place in 2024 at the Moreau Gal
 lery at Saint\nMary’s College in Notre Dame\, IN. In the summer of 2025\
 , he\npresented on his project\, Beneath the Layers\, as part of the\nMeta
 morphosis of Time conference at the University of Gdansk in\nPoland. Steck
  has been included in over fifty publications\, including\na feature in Ar
 t21 Magazine as part of an article on the ephemeral\nnature of art. He is 
 also a member of the International Society for\nthe Study of Time. Steck i
 s a first-generation graduate who received\nhis MFA from the San Francisco
  Art Institute and his BFA from the\nMassachusetts College of Art & Design
 . He has been an educator for ten\nyears and is currently the Photography 
 Coordinator and Senior Lecturer\nfor the Center of Visual Arts at Johns Ho
