 al\nbeings\, here to experience the world in all of its startling contrast
 \nand beauty. My art serves as an important means to examine our\nphysical
  and spiritual journey. Visual metaphors of portals and\npassages are repe
 ated in my works. Lines representing trails are\nobscured\, broken and rec
 onnected\, mapping paths of our deliberate\nchoices and that of chance. My
  creative process reflects this same\nconcept. Painting with hot encaustic
  wax means accepting and allowing\nthat the materials will often lead the 
 way. The result of this\npractice is a balance and tension between the ele
 ments of my\ndeliberate artistic choices\, and the physical property of th
