 \nAmerica’s most popular folk dance\, the Lindy Hop was created in the\n
 1930’s through 50’s by African American’s at the Savoy ballroom\nin 
 New York City and was then adopted by world. Weekly swing dances\noccur in
  cities of over 100 different countries worldwide. Everyone\ndepicted in t
 he paintings of this series were not hired models\, only\ndancers from the
  social dance scene. The paintings in this exhibition\nwill showcase Harri
 s’ skill for painting figurative realism. Artist\nBio Seth Harris is an 
 American oil painter. His figurative paintings\noften portray dancers\, be
 ach goers\, and otherwise ordinary people in\ncontemporary settings. His w
 ork is strongly influenced by the oil\npaintings of Rembrandt\, Caravaggio
 \, and Sargent. His use of heavy\ntexture puts his style somewhere between
  realism and impressionism.\nBorn in Annapolis\, MD in 1983\, he received 
 a Naval Architecture degree\nfrom NY Maritime in 2005. He lived on US flag
 ged ships working as a\nmerchant mariner until late 2010 when he became th
 e artist in\nresidence at a small Brooklyn art house. Over the next few ye
 ars he\ngained membership in the Salmagundi Club and National Art League a
 s an\nexhibiting artist. In addition to painting\, he is very active in th
 e\npartner dance world. He choreographs for the award winning swing dance\
 nperformance group the NY Sea Findyhoppers and regularly performs with\not
 her troupes. It is from this pool of inspiration that he drew from\nto cre
