SUMMARY:Into Light Exhibition
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Starting October 10\, CAMP Rehoboth will be hosting INTO LIGHT\
, a\nnational art activism project. The project seeks to dismantle the\nst
igma surrounding the disease of addiction and address the\nmisconception t
hat people with addiction are to blame for their\nillness. INTO LIGHT will
be on display October 10 till the end of\nNovember. We invite—and encou
rage—everyone to view this powerful\nexhibit. INTO LIGHT Project is a na
tional nonprofit that uses art and\nstorytelling to change how people see
drug addiction. The project\nfeatures original\, hand-drawn portraits and
personal stories of\nindividuals who died from addiction. Each portrait ho
nors a life lost\nand helps shine light on the human side of a disease tha
t is often\nmisunderstood. This powerful exhibition includes up to 30 fram
ed\ngraphite portraits of Delaware residents who died from drug addiction.
\nEach is paired with a written narrative that tells their story — not\n
just about how they died\, but how they lived. Over 100\,000 people died\n
from drug-related causes in 2023 alone. Addiction affects tens of\nmillion
 s of Americans\, yet stigma\, misinformation\, and shame still\nsurround t
he disease. Through this exhibit\, INTO LIGHT aims to\neducate\, reduce st
 igma\, and create space for compassion\, healing\, and\nmeaningful convers
ation. As Dr. Nora Volkow of the National Institute\non Drug Abuse said\,
“The emotional connection experienced through\nart can be an even strong
er argument for changed perceptions on\naddiction and overdose.\" Venue: C
 AMP Rehoboth.
