SUMMARY:Hineni: An M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:Hineni\, an M.F.A. Painting Thesis Exhibition\, by Rebecca Davi
dson\n(M.F.A. Painting Candidate\, Savannah College of Art & Design)\, wil
l be\non display in the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Gallery for viewing
 \nand purchase December 3\, 2021- January 3\, 2022. Hineni (pronounced\nHe
-Nay-Nee) is a Hebrew word that roughly translated means “here I\nam”.
As a concept\, Hineni is about presenting oneself in\nrelationship with t
he Divine\, taking responsibility\, and saying yes to\ntransformation. It
is a word that not only allows\, but encourages us\,\nto show up fully emb
odied.  Both abstract art and love can be\ndescribed as powerful\, unlimi
ted\, and universal languages. The Greeks\nhad eight words to describe dif
ferent kinds of love\, and Davidson’s\nwork deals with six of them: Eros
(passionate love)\, Pragma (enduring\nlove)\, Agape (universal love)\, Ph
ilia (deep friendship)\, Storge\n(familial love)\, and Philautia (self lov
e). The body of work included\nin this exhibition encapsulates the crossro
ads of Davidson's personal\nexperience as an Intersectional Artist\, prima
rily through the lens of\nAutism and Queerness\, and specifically in the w
ays Davidson expresses\nand experiences love. Opening Reception: December
 3\, 2021 -\n5:00pm-9:00pm Artist Talk: December 14\, 2021 - 3:00pm-4:00pm\
n(in-person and on zoom via CAMP Rehoboth) Venue: CAMP Rehoboth.
