Hineni: An M.F.A. Thesis Exhibition

Dec 10, 2021
Hineni, an M.F.A. Painting Thesis Exhibition, by Rebecca Davidson (M.F.A. Painting Candidate, Savannah College of Art & Design), will be on display in the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Gallery for viewing and purchase December 3, 2021- January 3, 2022. Hineni (pronounced He-Nay-Nee) is a Hebrew word that roughly translated means “here I am”. As a concept, Hineni is about presenting oneself in relationship with the Divine, taking responsibility, and saying yes to transformation. It is a word that not only allows, but encourages us, to show up fully embodied.  Both abstract art and love can be described as powerful, unlimited, and universal languages. The Greeks had eight words to describe different kinds of love, and Davidson’s work deals with six of them: Eros (passionate love), Pragma (enduring love), Agape (universal love), Philia (deep friendship), Storge (familial love), and Philautia (self love). The body of work included in this exhibition encapsulates the crossroads of Davidson's personal experience as an Intersectional Artist, primarily through the lens of Autism and Queerness, and specifically in the ways Davidson expresses and experiences love. Opening Reception: December 3, 2021 - 5:00pm-9:00pm Artist Talk: December 14, 2021 - 3:00pm-4:00pm (in-person and on zoom via CAMP Rehoboth) Venue: CAMP Rehoboth.
