SUMMARY:Color My World: Art Exhibition
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The Peninsula Gallery’s April exhibition invites four artists
to\nexplore the expressive power of color in art with “Color My\nWorld.
” From April 4th to the 26th\, this vibrant showcase brings\ntogether sc
enes with vivid hues\, imaginative colors\, and mind-bending\ninvestigatio
ns into color theory. The exhibit includes fluorescent\nlandscapes produce
 d by Jan Crooker\, Ann Guidera-Matey\, Catherine\nMartzloff\, and Pritha S
rinivasan.    An opening reception will be\nheld on Saturday\, April 4\,
from 5:00 to 6:30 pm\, which is free and\nopen to everyone. Join the gall
ery staff and exhibitors for an evening\nof fine art and complimentary foo
d and drink. Attendees will have the\nopportunity to mingle with some of t
he show’s participating\nartists.  Jan Crooker is an artist and teacher
and has been involved\nin the visual arts her entire life. She has art de
grees from Toledo\nUniversity and Penn State. She taught at the Toledo Mus
eum of Art\,\nPenn State\, Cal State San Bernardino\, Moravian University\
, and\nNorthampton Community College. She has exhibited nationwide and is\
nknown for her colorful paintings. She has a studio in Bethany Beach\,\nDe
laware\, and posts a painting daily on Instagram. Jan’s style\nevokes ea
rly 1900s modernism\, with her pieces featuring elongated\nhorizons\, abst
racted trees\, and wispy waterways. Her acrylic palette\nembraces shades o
 f lavender\, ochre\, and azure. Ann Guidera-Matey has\nbeen working with p
astels for approximately 35 years and has her\nstudio in Aston\, PA. Paste
l is her primary medium\, choosing it for its\nimmediacy\, saturated hues\
, and ability to capture glowing light. She\nis inspired by Maryland’s E
 astern Shore\, the New Jersey coast\, the\nBrandywine Valley\, and more. H
er landscapes evoke the feelings of\nharmony and balance found in nature.
Deep hues\, vast environments\, and\nvisual texture invite observers into
 Ann’s world\, where you can\npause\, take a deep breath\, and savor the
moment. The artist’s pastel\nworks are intensely saturated with fiery bl
ood oranges\, strong violets\nand pinks\, and electric teals.   Based in
New Jersey\, Catherine\nMartzloff has been painting for over two decades.
Her work has evolved\nin recent years toward bold color relationships and
  a more distilled\nvisual language. Vintage objects\, patterned surfaces\,
and simplified\nforms often appear in her still lifes\, creating composit
ions that\nbalance structure with intuition. Catherine’s style is\ntwo-d
imensional and geometric-focused\, giving her pieces an almost\ncubist aes
thetic. The three works she is including in this show are\nvaried in subje
ct: one is a floral portrait\, another is a river scene\,\nand the last is
a still life. Her tones\, while still rich\, are more\nmuted and unidimen
sional.  Pritha Srinivasan returns to the Peninsula\nGallery again in Apr
il after having shown in its March exhibition.\nPritha is a Mid-Atlantic s
elf-taught contemporary artist who has been\ncreating art since childhood.
Her award-winning figurative and\nnature-based watermedia artwork celebra
tes the wonders within and the\nfleeting moments we share on life’s coll
ective journey. She uses\nwatercolor and acrylic to convey her unique narr
ative\, deeply\ninfluenced by her cultural heritage\, travels around the w
orld\,\nliterature\, and an abiding love of nature. By combining dynamic c
olor\nwith detail\, her artwork transforms both the mysterious and familia
r\ninto something radiant and visionary. Her landscapes blend contrasting\
nshades through sharp brush strokes\, making her scenes teeter between\nre
alism and impressionism.  “Color My World” is on display from\nApril
4-26. Works from the show can be previewed at\nwww.peninsula-gallery.com a
nd are available for pre-sale.  The\ngallery is located in the Shops at t
 he Beacon\, 520 East Savannah Rd.\nLewes\, DE\, and is open Tue-Sat 10-5\,
  and Sun 11-3. Venue: Peninsula\nGallery.
