Kathleen Marie Doyle, author; Marsha Holler, illustrator: Blue's River  Old Blue, the great blue heron, loves history and has been the guardian of the Saint Jones River for 400 years. There is only one thing that he fears more than great-horned owls and bald eagles: the destruction of his river. This beautifully written and illustrated children’s book, by two Delaware residents, weaves together a story of the history of Dover and the river with a naturalist’s appreciation.

Ingrid Wolfenden, author; C. Mercedes Walls, illustrator: The Great Ocean Clean-Up  Ingrid Wolfenden was inspired to write The Great Ocean Clean-Up by the Dutch environmental activist and inventor, Boyan Slat when Boyan was still a teenager. The author will give a little background on young Boyan’s invention, and share how she writes her wonderful stories. After Ingrid reads her delightful story, Cathy will briefly talk about the task of an illustrator. Then everyone can have fun creating their very own illustrations using printouts of passages from the book, pens, pencils, and watercolor
pencils! The finished illustrations will be mounted on a large sheet of construction paper, right next to the selected passage. Books will be available for purchase (by cash or check).
