t on\nMay 12\, 1975\, the first day of rehearsals for \"Jesus Christ Super
star\"\nin Sydney\, Australia\; they became instant friends with their com
mon\nlove for The Beatles and\, of course\, singing. After the shows'\nper
formances at 10:30\, they would play pizza parlors\, coffee bars and\nnigh
tclubs with just one guitar and two voices. They quickly gained a\nreputat
ion for great harmonies and for original songs that Graham was\nconstantly
writing. They made a demo on a cassette of two songs\, \"Love\nand Other
Bruises\" and \"If You Knew Me\" and took it to every record\ncompany in S
ydney. Everyone turned it down but one — CBS Records —\nwho admired th
eir unique style. They made a single in one afternoon\nand it shot to numb
er one on the national charts. Air Supply was born!\nThat same year\, they
opened for Rod Stewart across Australia and then\nthroughout the U.S. and
Canada playing all of the famous huge venues\nbefore Rod would take the s
tage. They found new fans but did not break\nthe U.S. market. Back in Aust
ralia they had to start again and made a\nrecord called \"Life Support.\"
On this record were some treasures of\nsongs\, including \"Lost in Love\"
which went Top 10 in Australia and\nsomehow found its way to music industr
y executive Clive Davis in New\nYork. Clive immediately signed Air Supply
to Arista Records and in\n1980\, \"Lost in Love\" became the fastest-selli
ng single in the world\,\nleaping to the top of all of the charts. Now Air
Supply was on its\nway. The second single was \"All Out of Love\,\" and t
hat went up the\ncharts even quicker. Seven Top-5 singles later\, Air Supp
ly at that\ntime had equaled The Beatles' run of consecutive top five sing
les. The\nalbums Lost in Love\, The One That You Love\, Now & Forever\, an
d The\nGreatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. \"Lost in Love\"
was\nnamed Song of the Year in 1980\, and\, with the other singles\, sold
more\nthan 10 million copies. The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock's\
nsoaring tenor voice and Graham Russell's simple yet majestic songs\ncreat
ed a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply.\nHowever\, it
is the live shows that always hold audiences captive\naround the world. T
hey were the first Western group to tour China\,\nTaiwan\, and countless o
ther countries that before would not allow pop\nmusic across their borders
. In 1983 they recorded \"Making Love Out Of\nNothing At All\" by Jim Stei
nman which solidified the group as a\npermanent force in modern music. Thi
s song was released on The\nGreatest Hits album which soared past 7 millio
 n copies. \"Lost in\nLove\,\" \"All Out of Love\,\" \"The One That You Lov
 e\,\" \"Sweet Dreams\,\" and\n\"Making Love Out Of Nothing At All\" have e
ach achieved multi-million\nplays on the radio. In 1986 the group's music
was still playing\nendlessly on radio. That same year\, Graham was married
to actress Jodi\nVarble from Rochelle\, Illinois\, who also was his leadi
ng lady in the\nvideo for \"Making Love Out Of Nothing At All.\" Air Suppl
y began to\ntour with lavish productions in places that no one had been be
fore. In\nSouth America and Asia they became a part of everyone's life. In
1988\,\nAir Supply was asked to participate in Australia's bicentennial\n
celebration and to play for HRH Prince Charles and HRH Princess Diana\,\nw
here they learned both were already ardent fans. This engagement\nwould be
one of the most treasured moments in their career. In 1989\,\nthey record
 ed \"The Earth Is\" album\, selling over a million copies\noutside of the
U.S. This album was followed by \"The Vanishing Race\" CD\nand\, with the
 singles \"Goodbye\" and \"It's Never Too Late\,\" again saw\nmulti-platinu
 m success. The following albums\, \"News from Nowhere\,\"\n\"Yours Truly\,
\" and \"Across the Concrete Sky\" all gave their second\ngreatest hits al
bum multi-platinum status as they traveled the world\neach year. In 2000\,
a new production company was founded to be devoted\nto Air Supply's entir
 e future product\, called A Nice Pear\, which gave\nthem complete creative
  control. In July 2005\, their live DVD\, \"It Was\n30 Years Ago Today\" c

the Song\,\" an acoustic album of many of\ntheir big hits which received c
